Description
Tennant's code for this one reads BRUSH ASSY, DISK, SCB, 16.0D, HD PYP: a 16-inch diameter disk brush for scrubbing, filled with heavy-duty polypropylene. The "HD" is a stiffness grade, not an abrasive rating. There is no grit in this brush at all.
That distinction decides whether it belongs on your floor. Polypropylene shrugs off chemicals and oil and works wet or dry, which makes it the routine choice for concrete and sealed surfaces. The catch is that a stiff poly fill will dull floor finish over time and can eventually strip it, so on waxed VCT a softer fill is the safer pick. Move up to a super-abrasive brush only when bonded soil is genuinely beating this one, because abrasives cut faster and take some floor with them.
Disk brushes wear flat and lose bristle height rather than going bald, so the usual sign of a worn brush is that you start compensating with more down-pressure or a second pass. On a twin-disk machine, change both at once: mismatched bristle height loads one side of the deck and leaves an uneven clean.
