Description
A pad driver - also sold as a pad holder, and often called a disc or disk driver - takes the place of a scrub brush when you want a floor pad doing the work instead of bristles. The machine turns the driver, the driver grips the pad, and the pad does the cleaning. This is the 16-inch American Lincoln version supplied with its center retainer.
That retainer is the part most people are actually replacing. It clamps through the middle of the pad and stops it walking off the driver under load. When it wears or goes missing the symptoms are unmistakable: pads tear out around the center hole, spin loose, or fly off the deck entirely. A driver with a worn retainer will keep shredding new pads until the retainer is replaced.
Match the driver to your deck, then match pad size to driver size - a 16-inch driver takes 16-inch pads. If your floors need aggressive cutting on textured concrete rather than pad work, a scrub brush will out-clean any pad driver; pads are the better choice for finish work, burnishing, polishing and light scrubbing on smooth floors.
