Description
The drive belt for a sweeper brush, and one of the least expensive parts on the machine - which is exactly why it is worth keeping a spare rather than discovering it mid-shift. A broom that will not turn stops the machine from sweeping entirely, and the belt is the most likely cause.
Belts do not usually break cleanly. They stretch, which makes them slip under load, and they glaze, which leaves a hard shiny face that cannot grip the pulley. Either way the broom spins freely with no load on it and then slows or stalls the moment it touches debris, so the machine appears to sweep in some places and not others. Before replacing a broom that seems to have stopped working, put a hand on the belt: tension and surface condition answer the question in seconds, and at this price there is no reason to run a marginal one.
