Description
Pick the US AGM 2224 over its near-twin, the US AGM 2000, if you want the extra amp-hours and can accept a heavier battery. It is rated 224Ah at 20 hours against 210Ah, and 190Ah at five hours against 177Ah. That extra capacity costs 9.4 pounds (69.4 lbs versus 60 lbs), though the 2224 stands nearly an inch shorter at 9.9 inches.
Published runtimes are 135 minutes at 75 amps, 188 at 56 amps and 490 at 25 amps. The 2000 runs 120, 175 and 460 minutes in the same tests, so the advantage is real but modest: 15 minutes at the heaviest load, 13 minutes at 56 amps and 30 at 25 amps.
The 2224 uses a GC2 group-size case made of heat-sealed ABS, where the 2000 uses polypropylene. U.S. Battery lists marine, RV and golf cart use. It is a sealed AGM, so there is no watering and no free acid, and it can be mounted on its side.
